Genre isn’t a boundary when it comes to how sola system weaves sounds together – from disco and house to global club and afrobeats, sola system’s goal is to make you move. sola system is a co-founder of Slick Down, a collective focused on electronic music’s roots in black culture, and ABEG NYC, a collective by and for queer Africans. They are a resident on 8 Ball Radio, where they host constellations with sola system every first Friday of the month.

With a strong passion for music, she applied her classical training to DJing; growing an encyclopedia of music ranging from club, house, footwork, drum and bass, and techno. Civic Alliances Series
Experience a preview of Dark Music Days, a contemporary music festival held annually during the darkest days of winter in Reykjavik, Iceland. Multi-instrumentalists Ensemble Adapter, Keir GoGwilt, and Celeste Oram will perform their live radio play, Yunge Eylands Varpcast Netwerkið, which weaves together multilingual songs, stories, music, and historical archives. The quartet uses quirky DIY radios to create a vibe of joyful collective music-making and playful conversation between listeners and radio, past and present.

Françoise was a cultural icon in the worlds of music, avant-garde fashion, and film. Her romantically nostalgic lyrics and ethereal, melancholic voice made her one of France’s most successful pop stars, capturing the mood of her generation and many more to come. Annie O and PAC NYC are thrilled to present an evening of Françoise Hardy songs featuring vocalists Sophia Brous, LMNE, Sateen Besson, Sebastien Leon, and Stephane San Juan with Mauro Refosco on drums, Yusuke Yamamoto at the piano, and Will Graefe on guitar.

Moyetaje is a fusion of poetry, rhythm, and dance that explores what it means to be Moyeta/Moyeto in the Dominican Republic (DR). Moyetaje is an Afro-centric concept coming from the culture of the neighborhoods in the DR, specifically San Lorenzo de los Negros Mina, Los Mina, where both poet/producer Yaissa Jiménez and multi-percussionist Jonathan “JBlak” Troncoso were raised. Together with dancer/choreopgrapher Carmen J. Morillo they have created this 40 minute celebration of all that is Moyetaje.
